Weather stations provide critical information about the environment. Several different pieces of meteorological equipment help people to know the temperature, air pressure, wind speed, and humidity at its location.
Some weather stations provide information about solar radiation, snow levels, and the cloud ceiling height.
Most weather stations don’t require people to run the equipment. The machines automatically measure the readings before transmitting them to a computer or another device that records the data. Manual readings happen once per day, but the station reports what happens at least once per hour.
Weather stations can be placed on land, at sea, or even in the air with a helium balloon. The ones in the ocean are on ships or placed on buoys. Most water-based stations are allowed to be adrift instead of getting moored to a dock or the shore.
